CoachGShort’s Newletter 12/9/2012 – Tips for the New Years

Here comes New Years!  We now only have three weeks until the New Year starts and that means New Year resolutions for many of us, but how many of us have made these resolution but failed to achieve those resolutions?  Here are a few tips that can help with making sure that you meet those goals this year and while these can be applied to any goals we are going to focus on working out.

  1. Set realistic goals – This can be difficult as we only have the results of others  when we are starting out.  So I recommend that people shoot for a 1/2 lbs. per week if you are trying to lose weight.  An example of a non-realistic goal is something like “I will not eat out all year” when you eat out 3-4 times a week.  Start small and workout up to your goal.  “I will only eat out 2-3 times a week.  This will only require a small change into your life.
  2. Plan ahead – Those that fail to plan, plan to fail.  Time is one if not the most valuable thing that we have, and is one of the things that we tend to waste the most of.  When setting a goal making sure that we schedule when we are going to be working on that goal(s) is essential.
  3. Outline Your Plan – Along with planning when you are going to work on your resolution it is important to make sure that you know what to do with the time that you have set aside for your resolution.  This is where BeachBody Programs come in so handy.  Set aside the time and follow the plan and you will improve.
  4. Why did you make your resolution? – Making a “Pro” and “Con” list will help you stay on track during the hard days.  Most resolution are a Marathon and not a Sprint meaning that we are working to change habits in our lives and that takes time.  So focusing on what we are able to do when we achieve our goals can help us push ourselves.
  5. Talk about it!  This is where accountability groups and having a coach comes in.  By having people to talk to and hold you accountable you are more likely to accomplish our set goals.  There is power in numbers and having a group of people going through the same thing that you are working towards can help motivation.  Having a coach to talk to and direct you will allow you direction when you are struggling.
  6. Reward Yourself – Having a goal that you are going to give yourself when you accomplish your resolution will give you the extra push for you to keep pushing forward.  Just make sure that your reward is not counterproductive to you goal.  Also remember with the Beachbody Challenge you always get a free t-shirt and the chance to win up to $100K!

Daily Success 12/9/2012 Kaitlin changed her body with Body Beast!

“I used to work out some now and then. But never enough to be happy with the outcome. Especially when I’d catch a Beachbody infomercial and see the awesome results those guys got. I guess that’s what started me on my journey-—I wanted to be that person who inspired tons of people

As a graduate of many Beachbody programs, I’m most proud of the results I got from Body Beast. I wanted a challenge…and I got it. There were some rough workout days, but I pushed through every single day. I even brought my equipment with me on vacation. All I had to do was press play every day and drink my Shakeology.

And I’m so glad I did. Not just because I built the body I always wanted-—I never used to have back “dimples,” and now I do, my legs are awesome, and I feel so much stronger-—but also because now I feel like I’m a role model. I put my videos on YouTube and hearing someone say I’m an inspiration is the best thing ever!

For me, it started with watching Beachbody infomercials and saying, “If they can do it, then so can I.” Now I hope people will see my story and say the same thing!”

Daily Success 12/8/2012 P90X saved Roberts life!

“I was basically killing myself. My eating was out of control. I was a heavy drinker. I was totally stressed out. I didn’t exercise. I weighed 388 pounds. I felt worthless. And just catching my breath was getting harder and harder every day.

I was angry—at myself—for what I had done to my body.

That’s when a friend stepped in and saved my life. He gave me a heart-to-heart—and P90X. It was just the lifeline I needed. At first, it was tough, but I felt strangely comfortable with it. It felt like I was working out with friends. Within months, I was addicted. In a year and 2 months, I have lost nearly 200 pounds. I can now breathe, tie my shoes, and run for miles!

My energy levels are now through the roof. And I feel reborn—literally—like a new person. Thanks to P90X, I’ve even given myself a second birthday—July 5th. And as a present to myself—I’m passing along the gift my friend gave to me by helping others who are close to me change their lives, too.”

Team Success Story – Geoff Furr

So I went to the doctors office for my 3 month follow up and had to share some results. Just to let you know my history, when I started my fitness journey I was a type 2 diabetic that was pretty much un-managed even on the highest allowable dose of metformin (an oral medication). Additionally I was on high blood pressure medication. Midway through my first round of P90X I was taken off of both medications because my numbers were normal and in the case of blood sugar was dropping too low on the meds.
Well I’m in the beginning of my second round of X and so far here are the results: 40 Lbs lost …
Shirt size went from 2XL to large and even those are getting too lose! Pants size went from 38 to 34 waist My A1C level dropped from a 7.2 in mid September to a 6.1 today! (If you don’t know an A1C number is a 3 month average of you blood sugar level. Lower numbers are better. My doctor was thrilled at my 7.2 number in mid September because a 7.1 or lower is considered a standard of care to be managed for a diabetic.
Now that I am at a 6.1 I am no longer in the diabetic range, pre diabetic but not diabetic! At the next appointment I expect to be below 5.7 which puts me at completely normal!) My total cholesterol is 135 with an HDL of 84 and an LDL of 39, need to raise that good cholesterol up a bit but continued good eating and Shakeology will help with that. Doc said so will red wine! Sounds like a good plan once I am at my goal weight but not yet ;)
Kidney function, blood counts and everything else is perfect! Doc walked in the room and said “dude you are doing awesome”

Congratz Geoff and keep up the good work!

Daily Success 12/7/2012 Using 10 minute trainer Brenda changed her life!

“I was what you would call skinny fat. I hid it well, but my clothes kept getting tighter and tighter. I hated the way I looked and knew something needed to change. That’s when I met a great couple who are now my Coaches. I saw the incredible stories of lives they had helped change, and thought I would give Beachbody fitness programs a try.

I chose 10 Minute Trainer® to start with because I didn’t think I could do a longer workout. I loved the way my body responded to the program. I saw the cellulite start to melt off my arms and stomach and felt stronger every day. I also gave Shakeology® a try. It helped eliminate my junk food cravings and became a way of life.

My confidence has soared and my visible results have been amazing. But the achievement I’m most proud of is the fact that I didn’t give up when times were tough. I learned a lot about myself and what I’m capable of doing. I’ve also become a Coach and want to share my story with anyone who has ears to hear!”
