I have always loved running, but after a bad car accident left me unable to run anymore, my weight crept up from 175 to 235—and there it stayed for 20 years! When I finally went to the doctors for my first check up, he told me my cholesterol was at 399—with my triglycerides at 899.

I couldn’t believe it—he was right, I was a heart attack waiting to happen.

My daughter cried, and begged me to get my health under control so I could walk her down the aisle. At the time, she wasn’t even engaged but I understood what she needed. She needed me to change my life in a very drastic way.

But it was my wife who was the biggest inspiration. After battling Fibromyalgia for ten years, and recently surviving a stroke, she knew how precious health can be. But all her health issues caused her to gain a tremendous amount of weight—and she was struggling. I decided if I could change my life, maybe I could inspire her to change hers as well.

Luckily, our daughter had been a Beachbody Coach for two years, so she knew how to help. She told me to try Shakeology to help gradually change my relationship with food. It was great. The cravings went away and I was dropping pounds.

Then, I committed to doing the Ultimate Reset and that completely changed the way I thought about food—and helped me lose 47 lbs. My wife decided to give it a go and lost 35lbs. I was also able to lower my cholesterol to 145 and get off my meds— but the best news was that a month ago I was able to walk my daughter down the aisle at her wedding.

Daily Success 1/13/2013 – At 35, I found myself looking soft, feeling chubby, and living a lethargic life

6-Eric-Insanity

At 35, I found myself looking soft, feeling chubby, and living a lethargic life. I traveled a lot for work, and even though I was pretty good about working out at hotel gyms—I was pretty bad about what I ate. I mean, really, really bad about what I ate.

I knew that if I wanted to get healthy and fit, I’d have to commit to working out daily as well as majorly revamp my diet. Sounded good, but I had no idea how to do it. Then one day, I saw an Insanity® infomercial and learned that not only could I do the workouts pretty much anywhere, it also comes with a nutrition guide, a Coach, and an online support team to help keep me motivated as well as hold me accountable. SCORE! This was exactly what I was looking for. I was sold, and never looked back.

In 60 days, Insanity completely changed my life. The workouts were quick-paced and packed with so many different exercises that boredom was never an issue. And the moves were so intense that it left me feeling completely wasted when done. Which was great, because my goal wasn’t to just get in shape, it was to get ripped—and that I did.

Now I’m in the best shape of my life and have developed much better eating habits, even while on the road. I steer clear of junk and drink protein shakes instead. I lost 8 lbs. and went from 19% body fat down to 9%. I’m so proud of my results, and so is my family. Hey, if I can get ripped at 35, anyone can. You just got to push play everyday and stick with it.

Daily Success 1/12/2013 – Two year after the birth of my son…

5-Stacey-SI6

Two years after the birth of my son, I shot back up to my maternity weight of 210 lbs. My size 18 pants were tight and I had zero self-confidence. My knees and back ached all the time, I was constantly tired, and I had chronic stomach problems. Sadly, even though I was angry, ashamed, and miserable—I wasn’t surprised. I had battled the bulge my entire life, just like my mom and sister.

But it wasn’t until I pulled a muscle in my back from picking up my two-year-old that I had finally had enough. Either I had to change now and set a good example for my son, or he’d turn out exactly like me. So I turned to Slim in 6® and other Beachbody Programs for help.

Slim in 6 was the perfect solution because it eased me back into working out and I quickly started losing weight. In 3 months I lost 50 lbs., went from 40% body fat to 24%, dropped down to a size 10, and am in better shape now than I was in high school. Simply put: I LOOK AND FEEL FANTASTIC!

However, I’m most proud of the fact that I’m setting a great example for my son. Even though he’s so young, he exercises with me all the time and is already learning healthy eating habits. And because of this, I truly believe he won’t have weight issues like I did!

Now I’m a happy and healthy mom and wife!

Coaches Corner – What type of measurement do you use?

There is one thing that is harder for some people then any workout…

The scale seem to be more tortuous then any workout known to man.  Our society has put so much importance on it people forget about other measurement like body measurement,  pictures, performance and even body fat percentage.  Weight is a great measurement but it is like trying to find direction on the map without an address, you know it some where on the map but you don’t know where road to take.

Daily Success 1/11/2013 – I wasn’t out of shape—I just wanted more…

4-Matthew-P90X2-Shakeology

At 6’ 1” and 183 lbs., I wasn’t out of shape—I just wanted more. More for myself, more for my wife, and more for my family. I wanted to eat better and be as healthy on the inside, as I was on the outside. I wanted to inspire others while motivating my kids to be good stewards of their own bodies. But most importantly, I wanted to honor God by taking care of the body He gave me.

So I committed to rising at the crack of dawn, doing P90X2®, following the nutrition guide to a T, and drinking Shakeology® daily. Three months later, I lost 13 lbs., went from a 34-inch waist down to a 31, and am in the single digits with my body fat. My core has been strengthened tenfold, which has significantly helped my lower back spasms. And I finally feel comfortable in a swimsuit.

Now that I’m super fit and super healthy, I’m competing in more obstacle races and am getting back into trail running, mountain biking, and kayaking. I even plan to run the Chicago Marathon next October. But my transformation was far from easy. It took a lot of discipline saying no to pizza and donuts, a lot of Energy & Endurance® to get me through my early morning workouts, and it took a lot of support from my family and my Beachbody Coach.

Yet through it all, I stayed focused and NEVER gave up. I feel great and have to say, the results are well worth it.
