Daily Success 3/1/2013 – Being overweight was not fun. It left me exhausted all the time

Prior to moving to the U.S. 3 years ago, I was skinny. But during my first 2 years here, I gained 20 lbs. and couldn’t lose the weight. Being overweight was not fun. It left me exhausted all the time, I felt horrible, and climbing one flight of stairs was a huge challenge.

22-Marygise-SI6-ShakeOEvery day I’d looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe that the person staring back at me was ME! Eventually, I got used to seeing myself fat and just accepted it as who I’d become.

Then one day I came across some BEFORE and AFTER pictures of an old friend who had lost weight with Beachbody and I couldn’t believe her amazing transformation. I called her up, she took me under her wing, and the next thing I knew, she was coaching me through Slim in 6®.

Even though Slim in 6 is a low-impact workout designed for beginners, since I hadn’t worked out in over 20 years, I only got through the 1st 14 minutes of the workout on my first day. But the more workouts I did, the stronger I got, and the easier they became. Sure there were times I wanted to quit, but my Challenge Group wouldn’t dare let me. They all were so supportive and motivating, and I think they often believe in me more than I did myself.

In addition to working out daily, I followed the menu my Coach prepared for our group, plus I replaced one meal a day with Shakeology®. I’m still amazed how incredibly quick and easy Shakeology is to make, and that a whole meal fits in just one glass. This stuff’s amazing!

Over the course of 6 short weeks, I lost 14 pounds, went from a size 9 pant to a 4, and replaced all my medium shirts with smalls or XS. I have so much more energy now than I’ve ever had, and even though I still have Osteopenia, my joint pain has completely subsided.

Not only did Beachbody give me a new body, they gave me the tools I need to live a healthy life. Now, my children are following in my footsteps and are eating healthy and exercising daily—which makes me so happy. But this is just the beginning of my heath and fitness journey. I recently started Chalene Extreme® and am excited about continuing to tone my body and live healthy. Thanks, Beachbody, for changing my life. Without you, I don’t know where I’d be.

Daily Success 2/27/2013 – I used all the excuses. Too tired. No time. Can’t afford gym membership. Until I finally had it

When I had my twins, I gave up on ever having a “hot body” again. I used all the excuses. Too tired. No time. Can’t afford gym membership. Until I finally had it—I was a size 10, flabby all over and I didn’t want to be one of “those” moms who just watched her kids play. I wanted to play with them. (And look good in a swimsuit, too!)

I started taking some classes, and the instructor recommended Brazil Butt Lift, which was great, because my best friend wanted me to join her in a Brazil Butt Lift Challenge Group. I had seen the infomercials, thought it looked like fun…and it WAS Fun!

I loved the variety. It always kept me coming back for more. I loved how I felt when I was done. And I loved the way my body became more defined and lean. My waist seemed to melt away! I am more comfortable in a swimsuit. I’ve had people come up and compliment me on the way I look. I have so much energy, I can totally keep up with my boys (thanks, Shakeology!!).

And I actually enjoy clothes shopping again. I didn’t drop a lot of weight, which I didn’t expect. But the muscle definition is a HUGE improvement. I couldn’t be any happier.

 

Daily Success 2/26/2013 – If I didn’t make a drastic change soon, I might never get the chance.

I was 28, weighed over 250 lbs. and I was in terrible shape. I knew it. But when my doctor told me the unexplained pains in my neck and chest were from my extremely high blood pressure, it finally hit home that my lifestyle was KILLING me. If I didn’t make a drastic change soon, I might never get the chance.

I originally chose P90X because I liked the idea of building muscle while losing weight. That’s what got me started. After two official rounds of P90X and some of what I called “P90X Off-Road,” I decided to commit to INSANITY, which got me to a level of fitness I had never thought possible. I was so happy with my results, I followed my first round of INSANITY with 3 rounds of a P90X/ASYLUM hybrid, and I just completed my second round of Body Beast.

Not bad for a fat guy who hated to work out. My results have been nothing short of phenomenal. I have lost over 80 lbs. and totally transformed my body in a way I never dreamed would happen. Doing the version of clap/plyo pushups that Tony calls “psycho” and completing my first real pullup were memorable moments in my journey that gave me a real feeling of accomplishment.

I LOVE the fact that I feel like a completely different person inside and out. I have more energy. I rarely get sick. I have so much confidence. But the best thing is when people tell me that I’ve inspired them to change their lives. When I see that my journey has given other people hope that they can do the same thing, it is a truly amazing feeling.

Daily Success 2/25/2013 – I had a true ‘mom’ body and I was just 26 years old!

My husband is a U.S. Army infantryman, so he’s always in tip-top shape. But after I had my baby, I certainly wasn’t. I felt so flabby and out of shape, I was so depressed—I had a true ‘mom’ body and I was just 26 years old! How sad is that?

So I started working—doing TurboFire out every day—just for me. As a stay-at-home mom and Army wife, finding time was tough. Until Chalene helped me see that by waking up just one hour earlier and making time for me would make me a better mom, wife and overall person.

And it really did. Now, after TurboFire and ChaLean Extreme, my life has done a 180. I have a BETTER body than I ever have. I lost 10 lbs, dropped 4 inches off my legs, and now I have abs! I like myself so much better now.

And I made it my mission to spread the word to other military wives and mamas, who have all made the time for themselves and have new bodies to show off when they’re husbands return from deployment.

Dedication, Drive, and Discipline

Dedication, drive, and discipline, something that many people have lost. We have all been sold on instant gratification. It isn’t necessarily our fault, we have been conditioned that way. (Please note I am using ‘us’ and ‘we’ as general terms.) Constant Media bombardment whether it is television, movies, music, radio, magazines, books, and even video games has lead the way in that department. The past 50 years leading to now has definitely had an impact on the nation and ultimately the world. The “it can be done immediately.” mentality has destroyed us. 

If it doesn’t happen “right now right now”, a lot of the time we turn the other cheek and walk away. Many examples are; ‘it was too tough’, ‘didn’t give you what you were looking for’, ‘didn’t meet up to expectations when first started’, ‘journey would be take too long’. Or excuses start to build immediately like; ‘I am not smart, fast, skilled, intelligent, etc. enough’, ‘too tall, short, skinny, fat, out of shape, etc.’ and so on.

All we need to do is sit back and dig deep into ourselves. We all have the ability to achieve great things, we just need to get in the proper mindset. We need to sit back, remember what our grandparents and our great grandparents did to achieve success. They didn’t wish, hope or miracle something to happen. They used true grit and hard work for their success and achievement. So if you find yourself in a rut with your fitness goals, business goals, school goals or whatever it is you are doing, just remember that we ALL have the ability to achieve great things. We just need to lace up our boots and dig into life and kick some butt!

Daily Success 2/24/2013 – From third grade on, I was always self-conscious about my body

I have been heavy my entire life. From third grade on, I was always self-conscious about my body. Even though I had great friends and a wonderful family, I always had low self-esteem. I was never comfortable when I had girlfriends because I was terrified they’d dump me for someone thinner.

After college, I finally got a job at a bank. I bought a new car, started saving money, then decided it was time to attack the one thing that was holding me back. I wanted to finally feel comfortable in my own skin, stop wishing and start doing. And that decision changed my life. All I had to do was Press Play!

The fact that Power 90 was marketed as a “boot camp” program really appealed to me. Working out with Tony was really fun. I loved the mixture of cardio and weight training, the yoga, low impact, high impact exercises and kickboxing. Most of all, I loved watching the weight just fall off— 20 lbs…. 30… 40… once I lost 50 lbs., I could hardly believe it. The Activit vitamins and Shakeology helped a lot (I truly believe I wouldn’t have lost half that weight wthout Shakeology!). Losing my chipmunk cheeks made me feel so much better about the person looking back at me in the mirror!

I always dreamed about having 6-pack abs. Being able to see the definition in my ab muscles in my Day 90 photo is one of my proudest achievements. I never imagined the compliments I would get after finishing Power 90. People don’t believe I got the results I did in just 3 months.

But I did, and I’m so proud.

Daily Success 2/23/2013 – I’ve tightened and toned my mommy areas!

I have never enjoyed working out. But when I was pregnant with my second child, I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I held to a strict diet, but once I was cleared for the diabetes after my child was delivered, I fell back into some terrible eating habits. Fast food, sweets, soda!

I totally let go— until I realized that I could end up developing diabetes again, for good. So I began drinking Shakeology. What a treat! From my first sip, I was in love. Shakeology helped me shed the pounds and gave me ENERGY! I used that energy to do Rockin’ Body because I love to dance. Sean T did a great job motivating me. Then I moved on to ChaLEAN Extreme because my Coach recommended it.

And it worked! I loved Chalene. I loved the FULL BODY workout I got from it. I loved the strength training and I LOVED the burn. Over the course of six months, I have lost 19 lbs. and over 20 inches. I have healthy eating habits. I feel so much better about myself. I can now do more than 1 push-up.

And thanks to Shakeology and Chalene, I’ve tightened and toned my mommy areas!

Daily Success 2/22/2013 – I was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer

I was never really into exercise. But when I was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer, I knew my life was going to change drastically. After a total mastectomy of my right breast and chemotherapy, I was weak, depressed, and totally convinced that I needed to make some life changes.

So at the urging of my daughter and Coach, I started drinking Shakeology daily and incorporating exercise into my routine at age 71! I chose Shakeology because I wanted my body to receive all of the essential nutrients I need for adapting a healthier lifestyle. I fell in love with it and Shakeology is a big part of my daily routine.

And it has really helped now that I’m so much more active. I chose Body Gospel because I’m a Christian woman and it’s a faith-based program with up-tempo gospel music an exercise moves that make you feel like dancing and praising the Lord.

But I’ve always had stiffness and joint pain, so I chose to do Tai Cheng because it’s supposed to improve flexibility and relieve joint pain and stiffness. Guess what? They both worked. I’ve lost a few inches around my waist. But the best thing is the flexibility I’ve gained through Tai Cheng!

I love the way my body feels after exercise. I have more energy. I feel young. And both Tai Cheng and Body Gospel have made me appreciate my life more. I’ve stopped making excuses. I start my day off with a workout. And now I can keep up with my grand- and great grandchildren and enjoy my golden years with my husband. And for that, I give praise!

Daily Success 2/21/2013 – I really thought I was in okay shape.

Like many people, I really thought I was in okay shape. I ate what I wanted, even a pint of ice cream right before bed. I used to go to the gym a few times a week many years back, and somehow thought that this would carry me through.

I realized how wrong I was when my wife took some pictures of me without my shirt on when I wasn’t paying attention. I was shocked, and frankly, embarrassed at how bad I had gotten. I thought, okay, maybe I’m up around 180, but when the scale said 205 and a body fat check showed over 25%, I knew it was time for a change.

I started slow, cutting our soda and booze and phasing out junk food, but when a friend told me about P90X, that was it. I stopped and started several times, but once I found the teambeachbody website and started connecting with other Beachbody friends on Facebook, that was it. I was hooked.

My first 90 days of P90X, I lost 45 lbs. and cut down to about 10% body fat. After that, I did the P90X One on One series to add some bulk. (I loved Tony’s humor and his style was perfect for me.) Then I did P90X2 —twice—and was down to 170 lbs. and 4.5% body fat!!!

And you know what? I went from being able to do zero unassisted pull-ups to a max set of 27!
